There are a wide range of private grants available in Japan and abroad that can be used for expenses related to research, holding symposiums, conferences, dispatching researchers abroad, inviting researchers to Japan, publishing academic books, etc.

JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientists
This is a program of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) that offers excellent young researchers the opportunity to devote themselves to research.
Support for Photocopying and Other Expenses
This program covers a part of the cost of photocopying research materials, academic conference participation fees or annual membership fees, and the academic paper submission fees in the doctoral course.
Support for Academic Paper Publication
- If the paper is co-authored with a person who is eligible for this program, it may be possible for the person who is eligible to apply for this program to apply it.
- For graduate students, only those with ” Research Associate” status are eligible for this program.
Support Program for Publication in High Impact Journals
This program covers the expenses related to the publication of your paper in a listed high-impact journal.
Young Leaders Research Scholarship
The Young Leader Research Scholarship is a joint program of the Nippon Foundation, the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research, and Waseda University. The program is aimed at fostering internationally-minded leaders, and is available to graduate students, primarily in the humanities and social sciences, at leading universities around the world.
Overseas Research Travel Grant Program for Upper-level Undergraduate and Graduate Students
This grant program supports upper-level undergraduate (4th year or above) and graduate students in conducting research at overseas institutions.
Grants for Study Abroad Program Operation
This is a program to defray parts of travel expenses incurred by: a) students participating in, and b) full-time faculty acting as program coordinators and supervisors of, educational activities carried out for/by Waseda students at overseas organizations, such as universities, companies, and research institutions.
