career when we foster creative researchers who shoulder the future of the academic research in this country.
To this end, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (hereinafter, “JSPS”) will accept those who are in doctoral courses of Japanese graduate schools, have excellent research

Selection of Host Research Institution The eligible host institution is the institution in which the applicant is enrolled (in the case of a researcher who is registered in more than one institution, the institution in which the researcher originally belongs). (Refer to the Application Guideline “Host Research Institution”.) For the host research institution, select research institution other than the research institution belonging to the graduate school doctoral course (hereinafter referred to as “origin research institution”) .
It is particularly important for young researchers who have just received a degree to develop liquidity as a creative researcher while having liquidity for a certain period of time in a completely different environment while acquiring a free thinking and a broad perspective. The special researcher – PD is not simply a continuation of the research in the doctoral program but rather the ability as a researcher of the researcher with a new research environment, because it is extremely effective and vital for cultivating academic disciplines and interdisciplinary fields.
Therefore, we will qualify to satisfy the following conditions.1. Fellows – PD should change their research environment in order to challenge a new research theme which should not be merely a continuous work from the doctoral research. In order to encourage this, the applicant must select a host institution that is different from the university where they were enrolled in a doctoral course (hereinafter referred to as “home institution” (Institution where they got master degree was not recognized as home institution)) (hereinafter referred to as “transfer of research institution”).
2. PhD supervisor should not elect as a host researcher. However, even those who satisfy both 1 and 2 but who do not fall under a substantial transfer of research institution will not meet the application qualification in principle.*Please see JSPS web site for “Special Measures” of “Transfer of Research Institution” (only in Japanese language)
